David Bestué / Marc Vives: Actions in the Universe
- |

The Micro
- |
| -
After entering the space, the visitor finds himself inside
an installation representing the smallest elements of reality.
Chemicals, molecules and their evolution to the origin of
life.
- |
|
|
-
Interior of the Body
- |
| -
In the next space, the visitor is inside the human body. The
space narrows and he walks through the small bowel, he is
inside his own body.

La Caverna
- |
| -
This installation reproducing the interior of the Earth is
a diorama in which various stones represent human behaviours.
The two different spaces in which they are placed - a street
and a disco – show the relationship between what is
timeless (stone) and what is particular and cultural (human
behaviour). In both scenarios certain characters and stereotypes
can be identified.

-
Physical Surface
- |
| -
This space shows all that is visible. That’s it: the
surface. A fan shows a landscape from which two characters
are trying to escape, up towards outer space or down to the
interior of the Earth.

The Universe
- |
| -
The room representing the universe contains a solar system,
in which the lamp is the sun. The planets, represented by
typical objects of a room, revolve around this centre. At
a certain point in their revolution, and only for a second,
all the objects find their original place. At the same time,
a nebula alters the perception of space, and the visitor no
longer has clear reference points in the room.
- |
|
|
-
Mental Perfection
- |
| -
This room evokes the idea of perfection. The reference used
for such a purpose is minimalism. The room is painted black
and displays a structure of white lines forming an embracing
geometrical structure. Within it is the idea of perfection
in the shape of a suspended sphere.
- |
|
|
-
Room of Dialectic
- |
| -
In this room, the visitor is confronted by his own thoughts
and the impossibility of reaching a conclusion. The objects
confront each other, showing a series of opposites and impossible
associations.
- |
|
|
-
Mental Reality
- |
| -
This is the space of the subjective, where the reflections
that were unrecognizable in the previous room become unnecessary
and where the mind wanders through spaces which it would maybe
prefer not to have entered.

The End of the World
- |
| -
This installation alludes to the decadence caused by a change
of subject in the narration. It demonstrates ideas of the
temporary and of the end. A series of photomontages are shown
by the red light of a photography darkroom. Such light is
essential to avoid the pictures fading into black, because
they were developed without being fixed. If this happened,
the end of the world would inevitably arrive too soon.
- |
|
|
| |
| -
This is a copy of the space of perfection, but in a state
of destruction. It has been built with precarious and unstable
elements. It is the image of disintegration and death.
- |
|
|
-
Implosion
- |
| -
After the collapse, matter disintegrates. This room takes
the visitor to a post-mortem space where things cannot hold
themselves anymore and they fall.
